You are role models for change. When assisting our participants, you challenge assumptions and dare to think differently. You are open to personal development through coaching and constructive feedback from participants, peers, and leaders. You have a working understanding of person-centred active support or willingness to embrace and implement this model of support.You are outcomes focused, always looking for opportunities to build a person's capacity and support them to achieve their goals. You are prepared to engage and encourage participation through having fun, dancing, singing, getting creative, sports, sensory supports. You are adaptive to support people using their preferred communication methods. You will also work within a team environment to break down any negative community values, and promote the dignity, independence, and rights of each person.Key Responsibilities:Providing quality support to assist our customers who live at a DSA run accommodation site. (Some of whom may have had involvement with the criminal justice system/corrective services).Providing support to our participants with complex and high behavioural support needs to complete daily living tasks in their homes. Balancing promoting participants choice and control, and implementing restrictions, when needed as a last resort, to ensure they are safe Developing relationships and social networks to assist our participants to integrate into the community in line with the NDIS plans.Provide personal care if required such as grooming, toileting, brushing teeth, showering.About You:You are a passionate, empathetic, and respectful person who is looking to make a positive impact on the lives of others. You are a change agent who is looking for a challenge and new experience. You are level-headed, calm and have resilience and choose to carry these qualities with you to help our participants overcome challenges. You are an independent, positive worker but, can work alongside others and able to follow direction/s given by your managers.You will be/have:Availability to work on a 24/7 rotating roster, including: morning, afternoon, nights, and weekend shifts.Be comfortable supporting adult clients with intellectual disabilities/mental health diagnoses.Preferability experience supporting participants with complex and high behavioural support need.Willing to undertake comprehensive training in all aspects of complex support for high physical risk situations.Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage people in skill development activities.Current Driver’s License (P2 and above) and your own motor vehicle.First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.Cert III in disability or relevant industry experience is highly regarded.Have a valid WWCC and a NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one.How to ApplyTo work at DSA as a Lifestyle Mentor, a successful applicant must undergo a NDIS Worker Check, and provide a NSW Working with Children Check clearance number.DSA is an EEO employer with a diverse workforce.
