You recognize that not everyone’s journey is the same, that our participants’ needs can and do change, for a whole range of reasons.You will play a key role mentoring participants with psycho-social disabilities to maintain their independence by promoting social, vocational, and living skills. You will enable opportunities for choice, inclusion, and achievement at home, in the community so they can develop the skills and capabilities they need to gain independence and participate in society.Key Responsibilities:Providing quality support to assist our participants who live at DSA. (Some of whom may have been involved with the criminal justice system/corrective services). Comfortable in providing medication administration.Enhancing the lives of people with a background in trauma & mental health through choice, inclusion, and goal setting.Promoting living skills such as house maintenance, cooking, meal planning, budgeting etc.Developing relationships and social networks to assist our participants to integrate into the community in line with the NDIS plans.Foster teamwork, by working collaboratively with colleagues.About You:As a Support Worker, you are a passionate, empathetic, and caring individual who is looking to make a positive impact on the lives of people with a disability. You are calm, collected and resilient and carry these qualities with you throughout your work. You are an independent and proactive worker, but you are also able to follow directions given by your managers and can work within a team environment.With your engaging nature, you have the ability to encourage and develop mentoring that will facilitate self-determination that is informed and inspirational. You consider your communication and interpersonal skills to be your greatest strengths and have the ability to resolve conflict. Importantly, you have a passion for the sector and can relate to our mission and values.You will:Availability to work across our 3 sites in Orange on 24/7 rotating roster, including: morning, afternoon, nights, awake and weekend shifts.Be comfortable supporting adult clients with intellectual disabilities and/or trauma & mental health diagnoses who display complex and challenging behaviours.NDIS Worker Screening check or ability to obtain oneHow to ApplyTo work at DSA as a Lifestyle Mentor, a successful applicant must undergo a NDIS Worker Check, and provide a NSW Working with Children Check clearance number.DSA is an EEO employer with a diverse workforce.
