What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Supported Independent Living is a type of support funded through the NDIS to help you live as independently as possible while building your skills. Supported Independent Living is for people with a variety of support needs, who need some level of help at home all the time. SIL is available in share housing specially designed for people with a disability, or on your own.
Your support workers can help you with things like:
- Personal care
- Cooking meals
- Cleaning the house
- Building on your social skills
- Going to medical appointments
- Getting to and from daily activities
To access SIL supports through Scope in Victoria you will need to be eligible for both SIL and SDA funding. To qualify for SDA funding, you will need to meet the NDIS funding requirement criteria.
