We take pride in enabling opportunities for choice, inclusion and achievement for people with a disability.About Your Role:As our Support Worker, you’re not just supporting people. You are role models for change. When assisting our participants, you challenge assumptions and dare to think differently. This role will have you play a key role assisting participants with complex support needs to integrate and engage safely into the community. With encouragement and mentoring, you will support our participants to maintain their independence by promoting social, vocational and living skills. You will also work with the mentoring team to break down any negative community values, and promote the dignity, independence and rights of each person.We have both permanent part time (up to 36 hours per week) and casual positions available. Key Responsibilities:Providing quality support to assist our customers who live at a DSA run accommodation site. (Some of whom may have had involvement with the criminal justice system/corrective services).Enhancing the lives of people with a background in trauma & mental health through choice, inclusion and goal setting.Promoting living skills such as house maintenance cooking, meal planning, budgeting etc.Developing relationships and social networks to assist our participants to integrate into the community in line with the NDIS plans.Provide personal care if required such as grooming, toileting, brushing teeth, showering.Foster teamwork, by working collaboratively with colleagues.About You:You are compassionate, open minded and a champion for change. With your qualifications in Disability/Nursing/community or in a similar industry and/or relevant industry experience, you understand the challenges that our participants face. You are a team player who is resilient and thrive to achieve results when faced with challenges. With your engaging nature, you have the ability to encourage and develop mentoring that will facilitate self-determination that is informed and inspirational. You consider your communication and interpersonal skills to be your greatest strengths, and have the ability to resolve conflict.
