Disability Services Australia is recruiting specifically for experienced support workers who are committed to supporting a young man to live his life to the fullest. The below add has been written by DSA on behalf of the participant who is looking to establish his care team.He is looking for people who are fun, love a good laugh and can help him connect with his community here in Hornsby. He also needs people who understand how important his plans are and how structure and stability keeps him calm and safe.He needs people who understand when he doesn’t feel safe, secure or that his routines are not being followed, that he can become distressed and act in a way that may be challenging He may become violent, may damage property or require emergency services to attend home and take him to hospital until he is feeling better. He needs people who truly understand this isn’t personal or an attack on them directly – rather, a response to him feeling overwhelmed as he settles into his new home and routine. He needs people to know they will be trained to support him and regularly undergo training while at work to continue to evolve the support he needs.
