About Your Role:As our Support Worker, you will be comfortable with the uncomfortable. You will be working with people with complex needs and challenging behaviours and will be looking to build a person's capacity and support them to achieve their goals. You are adaptive to support people using their preferred communication methods and will work within a team environment to promote our participants’ dignity, independence, and rights.Duties:Providing quality support to assist our participants who live at a DSA run accommodation site. Some of whom may have been involved with the criminal justice system/corrective services.Providing support to our participants with complex and/or high behavioural support needs to complete daily living tasks.Promoting participants choice and control, and implementing restrictions when needed as a last resort, to ensure they are safely developing relationships and social networks to assist our participants to integrate into the community in line with the NDIS plans.Provide personal care such as grooming, toileting, dressing, and/or showering which mill involve manual handling.Driving participants out for community access such as Dr appointments, shopping, or skill development activitiesSkills and Experience:Availability to work on a 24/7 rotating roster, including: morning, afternoon, nights, and weekend shifts.You have a working understanding of person-centred active support or willingness to embrace and implement this model of support.Be comfortable supporting adult clients with intellectual/physical disabilities or mental health diagnoses.Willing to undertake comprehensive training in all aspects of complex support.Good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to engage people in skill development activities.Current NSW Driver’s Licence (P2 and above) and your own motor vehicle.First Aid Certificate, WWCC and NDISWC or willingness to obtain.About DSA:Disability Services Australia was established 1957 and is one of NWS’s largest Disability Service providers.
