DSA’s Employment Solutions team supported AccessAbility Day 2019 with six enthusiastic participants from the DES program achieving valuable experience through job placements. AccessAbility Day is an Australian Government initiative in which jobseekers with disability work in a hands-on environment for a day.
Participants Pietro and Yoawaluk spent a day at Campbelltown City Council’s offices engaged in a range of administrative tasks, while Bethany worked at Crystele Homes, assisting in admin and data entry.
At Bunnings Warehouse – Blacktown, Talita loved interacting with customers, scanning items, shelving and other tasks, assisted by team members. On the other side of Sydney, Tarek spent the day working with the team at The Reject Shop in Bankstown Central Mall, and Parker assisted at Birdsville in Mascot. Peter spent the day at one of DSA’s offices, assisting in admin tasks like laminating and creating signboards.
The Employment Solutions team truly appreciate the heartfelt support from employers Campbelltown Council, Crystele Homes, Bunnings Warehouse – Blacktown and Birdsville, Alexandria who all worked closely with them in supporting the DES participants. Their welcoming, friendly and positive attitudes went a long way in making the participants feel confident about performing their tasks to the best of their ability.
