After taking over as CEO of DSA in 2019, I was appalled to discover that a section of our dedicated workforce had been underpaid for several years.
Today we have taken an important step in making this right by entering into an Enforceable Undertaking with the Fair Work Ombudsman. As part of that agreement we have committed to displaying this Public Notice.
After learning of these errors, I commissioned a full review of our wages system, informed the Fair Work Ombudsman and developed a process to identify all underpayments and ensure all our people are paid properly.
I have been completely upfront with the affected staff and their unions and have been working with them to make sure we all understand what has gone wrong and learn from these mistakes. I should stress that the issues do not relate to any of our supported employees. I want to be crystal clear: there is no excuse for an employer getting things wrong when it comes to paying its workers.
DSA is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to support people with disability to live a life of choice and inclusion – underpaying our workers is not who we are. You have my personal commitment that we will make this right.
